Photo of the week!

January 27, 2010

Sorry there was no photo of the week last week.  It was a crazy, busy week, that flew by too fast for me!  This week I opted for a simple shot, which isn’t always easy to get.  First of all, you have to have beautiful blue skies out, which you just never know if it will happen or not.  Then you have to find some really cool clouds that have formed.  Lastly, you have to find the time to pull out your camera and take the photo!  I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity this time and hopefully I’ll be able to capture some beautiful sunsets soon as well.   Anyway, for now, here is my simple photo of the sky, with a really neat, whispy cloud!

Photo of the week

January 13, 2010

This week I had the chance to take some fun photos of some very cold weather.  It usually doesn’t get cold enough for these kind of photos, but when it happens, you have to get out in the cold to take at least a couple of photos (it really didn’t feel that cold!)  Anyway, here is my favorite capture of my trip.  I had some close runners up, maybe they will get shared in some other post…Oh, and while I’m typing, I forgot to add a link to my new wedding website I have.  Here is the link and I also edited the post below with it!  www.kristenjoyweddings.com

Photo of the week

January 7, 2010

First of all, Happy New Year!  A new tradition I’m starting this year is to post a photo every week of something I’ve taken in the past week.  So this first one is a little late already, but anyway, I have to start somewhere.  Doyle, my husband and I have started on a new venture of photographing weddings.  It’s never really something I thought I would do, at least by myself.  But after hearing Doyle commit to going to weddings with me, being my assistant and second shooter, I decided to go for it!  I recently took some photos of a beautiful bride, who has actually been married a few years now and my friend, Elyse, and I took some photos of her.  She was so awesome to let us do this and I’m very excited about how they turned out.  I showed quite a few at the Bridal Extravaganza in San Antonio we were at this past Sunday, along with this album, my photo of the week.  A 10×10 flush mount album, that’s just perfect for a coffee table!  Edited to add link to Wedding Website! www.kristenjoyweddings.com

Bluebonnets!

April 8, 2009

So this is my first attempt this year.  Well, at least for Colton.  I think Rhett cooperated a little more and his turned out a lot better!  I have family coming into town in the upcoming days and I’d love to take more photos in the bluebonnets.  Hopefully Colton will cooperate a little more next time.  Anyway, here is what I’ve got for now!

Colton might have kept his hat on, but no cute smiles…

Rhett was his usual camera lovin’ self!  I’m so happy I got a walking picture of him.  He is just growing up way to fast!

I found about this awesome project from a friend of mine, the website that the idea comes from is Giving is Awesome.

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography – $1,000* worth, to be exact.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $150 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in the greater Austin, San Antonio or Hill Country area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : kristen@kristenjoymoore.com

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Kristen

*Total price of $1,000 worth of products and services includes a $100 session fee, travel fee of up to $100, if applicable and the rest is the winners choice of my digital negative packages or print packages, additional products will not be included.

**Must be redeemed by December 31, 2009 for both winner and person who nominated winner.

One more flower photo

March 20, 2008

I stepped outside today and snapped a couple more photos of this flowering tree.  I was able to get a lot of bee photos this time and I just wanted to share this one real quick.

More flowers

March 18, 2008

So I’ve been taking a little time to take some more flower photos.  I know I need to work on family photos, but I need a change every now and then!

Flowers on a tree

March 17, 2008

So I just got a new lens, the Sigma 28mm f/1.8.  I love the wide angle on it and it works great for taking macro type photos, so I had to try it out on some flowers.  I wish I knew what kind of tree this was, but it’s just outside on our land.  I’ve seen them quite a few places while I drive to and from Blanco.  I think it must be some kind of tree that just “grows” like the cedars and oaks.  I plan on taking some more when I can get a good blue sky background, but here’s what I got for now.

Exotic animals

February 27, 2008

So I had the opportunity to go take some photos of some exotic animals at a local ranch.  I had a lot of fun taking photos of them as they are always so much fun to look at when I get a chance to visit out there!

Rose

February 22, 2008

So my father in law gave me some roses for Valentine’s day and I decided to try out some macro photos of them with my non-macro lenses!  I changed the colors in photoshop, the pink color is the original.
